2024 was another very busy season with 200 cruise ship visits from May to November. After a typically cool and wet Spring, things warmed up nicely with daytime highs in July hovering around mid-20s C (mid-70s F). Yes, we had a few hot & humid days in July, and some foggy mornings, but all in all, it was a super summer weather-wise. Two hurricanes, Oscar and Beryl, were thankfully downgraded by the time they reached Nova Scotia. September and October were warmer than average, and I achieved a personal milestone by completing 500 tours since 2015. Overall, the best post-pandemic year.
Here are a few 2024 reviews:
Jay was an exceptional tour guide. The van was roomy and comfortable for the four of us, and the drive through the peninsula was scenic and educational. Jay was able to provide history of the land and the people. While Peggy’s Cove is certainly a lovely area, the drive proved to be just as beautiful. Jay was able to point out some special little gems along the way, including beautiful photo opportunities and historic homes. He was prompt in his pickup and delivery at the cruise port. We even had time for a flavorful local lunch away from the tourist attractions. – Denver, CO (Sept 2024)
What a great tour! We didn’t realize before this tour the historical significance of Halifax as a City and Naval base. Truly fascinating, and Jay brought it all to life really well. His knowledge of the area and the events surrounding it were second to none and I would not hesitate to book him again in future. Strong recommend from us. – London, UK (Sept 2024)
Jay White was everything we might ever want in a tour guide. After speaking a bit to us, he understood the sites that we would most appreciate seeing, and did a great job with the timing to allow us to see them all. He also did not just give a recitation of facts, but gave the history, context, and meaning of the sites, making them a living history, not a dry fossil of a site. He was exceptionally friendly and pleasant, and we would definitely recommend him to any friends heading up to Halifax (or ourselves if/when we return). – Los Angeles, CA (Sept 2024)
